Jerry Richards says Gordon Daryl Hatten (Daryl) was adopted by Stan Hatten upon his marriage to Lily and given Hatten as his family name. However, as Daryl was born in 1928 and John Griffith Richards died in 1924, I suspect he was Stan's son. He had two sons, Fred and Daryl who died before he did. Daryl Jr. was a famous rock climber who died in a climbing accident in 2004.

From his obituary: "Daryl was predeceased by his sons Fred and Daryl Jr. and brother Lloyd (Jean). He is survived by brothers Gerald (Jerry) Richards (Frances) and Jim Yousph (Ethel); his daughter Darlene (Andy), son Allan (Carolynn); and grandchildren Justin, Lorence, Molly, Lucas and Janelle."
